A hip-hop musical that explores the struggles of dysfunctional family dynamics and the effects of generational trauma. Through the power of live vocals and beatbox, LIEF tells the powerful tale of a working-class, first generation girl navigating life whilst having to hide what goes on behind closed doors.
Nadine, a teenage girl, battles with identity and social interactions whilst living with domestic violence in the family home. Her mother, raised in apartheid South Africa, and her father, Clarendon, Jamaica, both move to London to seek prosperity, but find their upbringing in conjunction with the false promises of "the good life" that the UK brings, ultimately leads to Nadine and her siblings having to pick up the pieces whilst keeping family secrets.
